School of Biblical Evangelism - "Now I can do this!"

Less than a month ago I enrolled in the School of Biblical Evangelism after watching Hell's Best Kept Secret with my 2 sons. We were truly sorry for our lack of love for sinners and I was determined to learn how to share my faith effectively and biblically. I told my husband to not get me anything for Christmas because all I wanted for Christmas was to enroll in the school--that would be the best gift I could receive. He surprised me with a check in a card and it said, "For your school."

After completing five lessons and watching every online video you have, I knew I needed to go out and practice what I was learning. I searched for others in the state of Maine and I found no one. I even applied to become a GNN seed sower as I noticed there were no leaders in Maine. I wanted to connect with people already sharing their faith. But, there was no one. I thought to myself, "How am I going to do this alone??" I felt like Kirk hiding behind a bush and I was saying, "I'm too a-scared!"

My two sons have watched every video with me as well and they too were eager to get started. So we bought some tracts and waited for them to come in. The day the tracts arrived we had them sprawled out on our table (we bought two of the Sample Packs) and we were looking them over when there was a knock at our door. I never get solicitors here, so I was shocked to look out and see two real estate men! My heart was racing and my 14 year-old son came up next to me and nudged me with a tract in his hand. I wish I could say I conquered my fears and shared with these two men... unfortunately I chickened out. I was completely heart broken and wrote a post to my fellow Seed Sowers. They gently encouraged me and said they all have experienced this. One of them told me sometimes it takes a few of those heartaches before we finally step up and do it. Well... I was determined to never let that happen again.

The very next day, Jan 12, 2006 my four year-old twin girls had a dance class. As I was getting them ready I felt a strong urgency to go stand out front of the dance studio while my girls had their lesson, pass out tracts, and witness to someone. I knew it was from the Lord. But I thought "Lord, this is Maine! It's cold outside!" I knew then my attitude had to change. I would rather freeze and stand outside than to let one single soul burn in hell. I asked my boys to gather up some tracts and put our e-mail address on them, then get ready to come with me. I dropped the girls off for their lesson and we headed outside.

No sooner had we got out there when I saw two young boys, dressed like gangsters, come walking down the other side of the street. I thought, "Oh, they are on the wrong side of the street, guess it won't be them." But as soon as I thought that, they came running across the street and were walking towards us. Eeekkk! I prayed for strength and boldness as they got closer. I and gulped and handed them an Are You A Good Person tract. Whew! I thought, Now that wasn't so hard. But then, before I knew what was happening, words came out of my mouth! I asked these boys if I could ask them a couple of questions. They said sure. And for my very first time I was able to take two young men through the good person test. They were very receptive. They removed their bandanas, and the one who was smoking put out his cigarette. They even asked me questions about adultery. I shared with so much confidence I surprised myself! Neither one of these young men wanted to go to hell and I was able to share with them what Jesus did so they wouldn't have too. They even allowed my sons to take a picture of them holding a tract. It was incredible!

Then I knew -- now I can do this!

Soon after they left, another young man came walking down. I handed him a tract and I asked him if I could ask him a few questions. Well to make a long story short, Craig was so convicted his eyes were filled with tears. He said he was going into the Army. He said he had been praying the night before, because he knew he needed to be right with God. And here I was sharing with him! Well, for the first time in his life he understood the gospel. It made sense to him. Craig prayed right there to receive Christ!

I did all this in 35 minutes! And I am still in one piece! No one bit my head off and I didn't even realize how cold I was!

Thank you Ray and Kirk for teaching me to really love sinners. Since that day I have street witnessed one other time in front of that dance studio and with my co workers and a solicitor! I have three fellow fishermen with me now, not including my two sons and my husband. God is awesome and I am honored to live for Him and be a fisher of men!

Pray for Mike Tyson

Recently my wife (Carrie) and I were returning home from a trip. We were at the airport in Phoenix, Arizona waiting for a shuttle to take us to our car. Suddenly there was a stir behind us. People were honking their car horns and shouting. My wife and I turned around and looked and saw that it was Mike Tyson and one of his associates going to catch a Limo. My wife says to me "go give him a Bible Tract." I thought for a second and said "OK, this will be a good opportunity to witness to the infamous Mike Tyson."

As he was waiting on the Limo, I walked over and reached out my hand and said "Hello Mike, my name is J.D. We have a ministry and would love for you to take a look at one of these Bible Tracts. I feel it will really speak to your heart." He shook my hand, took the Bible Tract, and said, "I really appreciate this. I'll look at this. Thank you for thinking of me."

I thanked him and went on my way. The Bible Tract that I gave him was the "Are You A Good Person?" tract that we ordered from the Way of the Master materials. Who knows maybe one day we will hear that Mike Tyson converted to Christianity, and that he was prompted by a Bible Tract. Let's all pray that the Holy Spirit will move on him in a mighty way.
