Please Pray - Persecution in Glasgow

Written by General News Release Friday, 19 March 2010

prayThursday, March 18, 2010, Glasgow, Scotland - We received news today that our brother in Christ, Shawn Holes, was arrested (while preaching), for explaining to a group of homosexuals, in love, that their lifestyle was sinful.

Shawn spent the night in jail, and will be going before a judge on Friday.

We have open-aired with Shawn, and know his dear family.  Please be on your knees for our fellow laborer and his family.

UPDATE, Friday, March 19, 2010 - We have learned that due to Scottish law, Shawn was charged with one count of homophobia (yes, you read that correctly), and one count of disturbing the peace.  He was given three choices by the judge:  1).  Plead guilty and pay a fine, 2).  Plead guilty, and go to jail, or 3).  Plead innocent, and await further trial.  Given the laws and his extremely slim chance of a legal victory, Shawn pled guilty and will need to pay a fine of about $1,600.  Continue to pray for his family, and for the lost who will continue to hear him preach.

Perhaps I have missed something...could someone please enlighten me and tell me where, specifically, Jesus talks about homosexuality in the Bible? I don\'t mean in the Old Testament, I mean Jesus himself...what did he say about being gay? If someone could let me know, I would appreciate it, because I cannot seem to find it anywhere, in any Bible. Thank you!

do you really believe that homosexuality is an unchangeable part of some men\'s nature. do you believe that about other sins. God loves the sinner but hates the sin. \"with God all things are possible\" I love you and will be praying for you.

To Shawn and his family, \"they hated me, they will hate you also, they persecuted me and they will persecute you.
To finish strong, we must stand firm in God\'s word, and support our brother\'s and sister\'s in Christ and exhort them and lift them up before the Almighty in prayer. Lest we don\'t think it can happen here (USA) think again.

Um no, they don\'t have freedom of speech in Scotland and it\'s the same case in the countries surrounding them. The United Kingdom borders on becoming an extreme socialistic hypersensitive politically-correct cesspool. My husband and many of my friends are from there, and I don\'t know how they can stand it. I even know of people getting fined for describing someone as a \"black\" person by the police, never you mind if you say anything about homosexuality being a sin - you\'ll end up labeled a hatemonger.

Lord I ask for great love, grace and faith upon Shawn and his family, and for all Christians,as time is short, we must redeem the time! That they continue to pursue you Lord Jesus, keep fixed on the goal to win the prize, they are overcomers, and that great endurance is within in them. Lord I ask for this in Jesus Name.

I can prove its not genetic, it is a choice, having had gay relationships myself. Once I came to Christ, I realised it was wrong. God convicts. I have never had leaning towards same sex since, I am not saying it is the same for others, but when you submit to Christ fully, God said you shall not make for yourself an idol. If you do have idols you cant follow Christ fully.

Before being brought before a \"judge\" (and all modern \"judges\" are military officers, not justices) for a crime that has no victim, one should prepare with some study of the law. Scotland is a common law nation, same as America. Three options were given the accused. The fourth option is never mentioned by the \"judge\", but may always be raised when no evidence of an injured man has been presented. Choose option 4 - \"I do not consent to this proceeding. I object to the in personam and subject matter jurisdiction of this tribunal. I do not consent to enter a plea. If I am being charged with violating a penalty clause of a contract, then produce the contract that I signed and I will consider your offer to enter a plea. Otherwise, I do not plead courts of contract.\" When you agree to enter a plea, you have consented to contract with the \"court\". You have just waived your rights and submitted to the jurisdiction of a \"nisi prius\" proceeding. Had the man stuck with the truth - that he was innocent of being in fear of homosexuals, and that he was innocent of disturbing the peace - then knowledge could have come to him in time to deliver him. I suppose he could still rescind his plea agreement under grounds of duress and get a trial scheduled. Then before it comes around, he could file a claim as an aggrieved plaintiff against the prosecutor for exceeding his jurisdiction by bringing a claim when there is no victim. Stick with what you know is true and right and God will deliver. God did it for three young Hebrew men in Babylon. He is the same God, he has not changed. Compromise and you\'ve conceded the victory. Walking by sight says \"Pay the fine and get on with your life. You\'ve got your family to think of.\" Walking by faith says \"God is the protector of me and my family. Lying lips are an abomination to him. I will count it a joy when I suffer for the sake of righteousness. God is faithful to care for us and repay all who work evil against me.\" Listen to the mp3 audio files at www.1215.org - sovereignty, motions, and forms - and start learning how to handle the Children of Belial who infest the courts. The abuse will not stop until you obtain knowledge and then use it.

Shawn keep the faith know that the Holy Spirit will continue directing you to spread the gospel of Jesus. Remember Jesus was persecuted for the gospel and we will also due to the darkness in this world. Love in Christ

I must say that when Peter was given the opportunity to leave jail, he did so. If you were faced with jail time, or pay $1,600, I would say you\'d probably pay the money and keep preaching in your church. Anyhoo, don\'t judge this brother lest you find yourself in the same set of circumstances and you have the Christian world looking over your shoulder condemning you for your actions.
