Great Quotes with Kirk - Finishing the Good Work Featured

Written by Kirk Cameron Tuesday, 23 February 2010

 There is . . .

not a soul-wreck on the streets,

not a prisoner serving out a sentence behind prison bars,

not a debased, fallen person anywhere

in whose soul, there were not once visions of beauty, high hopes, holy thoughts and purposes, and high resolves of an ideal of something lovely and noble. But alas! the visions, the hopes, the purposes, the resolves never grew into more than beginnings. God bends down and sees a great wilderness of unfinished buildings, bright possibilities unfulfilled, noble might-have-beens abandoned; ghastly ruins now, sad memorials only of failure!  ~  J. R. Miller

Sadly, there are many good books I have started, but never finished. Embarrassingly, I have even made promises I haven't kept. But one work I cannot afford to abandon, and dare not even think of neglecting, is the honor, duty, and privilege of being the Prophet, Priest, Provider, and Protector of my family. It is the work God himself has given me to do... and it's not easy. I've stayed up nights, lying on my bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering how to make all the pieces of my family puzzle fit together. I pray, I read God's Word, and I seek wise counsel. I fight, I win, I stumble, I get back in the fight and win again. Building a godly family can leave you bruised, wounded, and exhausted. Marriage isn't for wimps; it's for warriors. But the glorious structure of a home that is full of love and the glory of God has a beauty and value that cannot be compared to any man-made building. I cannot fail at family. I must finish the good that God has begun in my home. And I have confidence that my family will not only survive, but thrive. That assurance comes through trusting in the integrity and faithfulness of my Heavenly Father. He keeps his promises and I stand on them. "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you, will be complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" and "...in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."  - Kirk

Amen to that brother. Seriously though, I find it somewhat hard to blame them for doing what they do. Given their beliefes, it\'s perfectly justified. I go to University in the United States and I see these guys around campus all the time. (Except not so gentile as Ray, more screaming at passerbys that they have there place in the lake of fire.) Anyhow, I\'ve tried reasoning with them, calming explaining the evidence for evolution by natural selection, the scientific evidence that demonstrates that the universe is amproximately 13.73 billion years old, not 5 to 10 thousand, excetra. It just goes in one ear and out the other. The best option (I have found) is just to parody them. You know, out crazy the crazies. Now I\'m out there every time in my pirate suit preacher the word of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Indeed-I really believe in what you are doing spreeding the word of god-and practicing what you preach, what your standards are about life, peace and understanding about humanity, and far most putting god into your life. I really enjoy your program, and I really learn from what your preaching..everyone should follow god standards, being a good person, and also, treating people how you would like to be treated. (That is the standards I apply in my own day to day life.) With the way the world is today, it saddens me about how people can be rude, selfish, and not have a caring bone in their body, you know. Also, I do not like watching the news-because all everyone sees on the news is people killing, domestic abuse, robbings, ETC.. (On that note-we may not like what going on in the world today, we also need to be humble, have humility, compassion towards people we may not tolerate, and try to tell them about the word of GOD)-(We as people should be willing to help people without expecting anything in return, we also should put aside our differenc) Well, I better be going now.. God Bless You & Keep Up The Good work..
    Sincerely-Lori Lee Santiago

No human can b too wise. Only our Lord knows it all. If we trust in Jesus we can gain wisdom everyday we live. Study/meditate/read God\'s Holy Word every day to gain wisdom for now and after death/life. Live each day to your fullest b/c it could be your last. Always fear God b/c He is the ultimate judge/our Father + creator.

I doubt evengelism cost you your marriage. It was probably you!
I cannot be ashamed of something that is true and valid. THere is no ignorance involved.
If Christian pricipals were practiced in society it would not have all the travails it currently has. Therefore, it is nore critical now than any time beforehand.
Finally, there is a God. And Jesus of Nazareth is historically real and He has risen from death. That is because this God you refuse and Jesus are one! Jesus\' historical existance demonstrates your laughable ignorance.

What a load of nonsense. There is no god (or jesus or silly holy spirits). I despair to think that modern educated people hold on to this medieval thinking. Cost me my marriage, bloody evangelism. Your practises have no place in modern society. Are you not ashamed of your blatant ignorance? Probably not if the actions of that laughable nonentity (disciple of christ !!) the pope is concerned.

    Hello Kirk,
As you said, It is the \"privilege of being the Prophet, Priest, Provider, and Protector of my family\" that can continue to be a personal motivator! Also, guys like you, encouraging guys like me makes a big difference in marriage. (After Fireproof, I was encouraged to go through Love Dare! Thanks!)

Another encouragement to me from an
Old Timer was how to Praise and Bless my wife and my children. \"Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.\" (PR 31)

May God bless you as a Person, Partner, and Parent. As a father of six sons I\'m learning with you! Thanks!
    Matt
