Great Quotes with Kirk - John Newton

KirkCameron

"For to me--to live is Christ and to die is gain!" Philippians 1:21

God will preserve me--as long as He has service for me to do. Beyond this, I have no great desire to live.

"I desire to depart and be with Christ--which is better by far!" Philippians 1:23

~ Letters of John Newton

How many days do we ponder the Lord's will for our lives? "Should I do this, or pursue that?" we ask. "Do I invest my time here or is it better spent there?" How free we would be from these questions of purpose and endeavor if we could see our lives as simply as the apostle Paul saw his? Knowing that God's plans are better than ours, Paul submitted himself to the Lord's agenda for his life and focused the scope of his efforts to serving Christ alone. He became convinced that life equaled knowing Jesus and loving Jesus. When service to the Lord was no longer possible for him on earth, Paul desired to be with the Lord in Heaven, so that he could love and serve Him face to face! In the final analysis, when the points are tallied, and the scores are posted, what else will matter in life and death but Jesus?    - Kirk

  • jameshp52  - What a change
I have seen Kirk in some of his earlier movies. Like Cameron closet,I watched
that movie 6 times. Now to see him serving God and making movies for God is
awesome, (for lack of other words.) I have been saved now for 9 yrs and would
not go back to my old ways for nothing. I am 52 now, so God has had to work hard
on me. Been to prison twice. God has been with me all the way. Just was to blind
to see. I even wrote a gospel song called, He gave me light. I have written
about 7 songs so far. Been liked very well at the churches we play at. I have
been playing with a gospel band for 8 yrs. now. Thank God for his patience's.
    AMEN

  • Hypocrisy is a strange tale  - no title
Are we to believe that we are all descendants from an incestual relationship? If
in the beginning there was Adam and Eve, their offspring must have mated with a
sibling in their bloodline. Doesn't christianity consider incest a sin? Doesn't
anyone else find this disturbing? Even with a well-prepared defense for that,
why would one want to defend that?
Also, the bible was written not by a spiritual entity but by mortal men, just
like you and me, why should we hold a document written by less intelligent
humans than we are to be considered spiritual?
  • Neil Slattery  - Just a reply
Adam and Eve had children long before Moses came and gave the law. There was no
law against marriage between siblings in the beginning. And besides there are a
few things you need to consider here:

    I: They had no choice

II: There was no law against it, therefore where no law is, there is no
    transgression

Besides if you believe in evolution, you'd have to believe in a similar, if not
more disturbing scenario. Belief in evolution creates a bigger problem than it
solves for instance; Where does gender come from? where does sex come from in
    order to reproduce?

Whatever evolved first according to evolution had to somehow find something to
    eat, marry and eventually reproduce.

I hope this answers your question
  • Esly  -  Death & Losses
This article was very inspirational. My husband's grandmother just passed away
yesterday. Though many were saddened for her passing, I couldn't figure out why.
She was indeed saved & she was only passing through as stated before as,
"passing away". I know they will miss her until then.. but boy! She's in
the immaculate place of paradise we (born-again) all can't wait to get to!!! :D
In my heart I was celebrating for her!

So, I had posted an article by J.R. Miller on FB entitled, "Losses". I
got it from "Grace-Gems". Anyways, here's a bit of what it said.

"What are temporal and worldly losses of the sorest kind--while God remains?
Yes, what is the loss of money, houses, costly furniture, and other possessions,
while God's love remains? There is surely enough in Him--to compensate a
thousand times for every earthly loss!

Our lives may be stripped bare--home, friends, riches, comf...
  • MikeOwens  - John Newton's and Kirk's Comments
Recently I heard John MacArthur explain the importance of the GREAT COMMISSION.
This earthly life is not for praising or trying to glorify God. HEAVEN will be
    for that!

We should be doing everything we can, with what we have and where God has placed
us to help others see the truth of THE LAW and GRACE. Helping others - in the
church - and outside the church, realize the importance of having a clear
understanding of GOD'S WRATH, THEIR GUILT and THEIR DANGEROUS DILEMMA. Then
immediately given the message of GOD'S MERCY for those who REPENT and TRUST in
Jesus' Finished Work On The Cross - - * * If it wasn't for that important
PRIVILEGE AND TASK set before us, going to Heaven immediately should be our
    goal.

Thanks Kirk, Ray, Todd and Staff!! Your ministry has been used to CHANGE my
    life.
  • Kelly Leturgey
God is sovereign. What is sovereign? I am learning from my gentle, patient Lord.
Since my husband is now in Heaven, I concur with Paul, I would rather be
"home" with my Redeemer...but there is much to be done! Our God is
    mighty to save!
  • Keith  - Does God change?
If God never changes He is as He has always been and always will be, it must
mean The things He hates now He hated always! The things He found to be sinnfull
has always been sinn,The things He say latter to be wicked has always been
wicked, the things He says is an abomination to Him has always been so! even
before He created anything right?why would He then create us in that very way He
finds to be all theses things? And not only that give a command to commit the
very things He hates? God creatied 1 man @ 1 woman and told them to go
fourth and multiply,How are they to do this When God clearly forbids and sayes
He will curse and destroy any man that sleeps with brother or sister,or even any
close KIN,Why would God choise to populate the earth in the very way He clearly
hates?forbides?and even condems?and i say if you say it wasnt till later God
forbides these things,I will have to ask so God can change what He hates do to
  • Glen  - A lot of stuff there
Keith, hello friend! There is a lot of convolution there I don't really know
where to start so let us start with the 'created like Him theme'. God created us
to KNOW the difference between good and not good (evil). Let us first then
state the distiction between Knowledge and Action. So, can a all loving,
righteous and Holy God Know the evil as well as the good? Think about it. How
can He tell us stealing is not good if He does not have the ability to KNOW
(ONLY) what it is and that it is not good. The difference comes when we look at
the action in Genesis. We choose to do (action) the evil while He chooses only
the good every time. That by no means says we don't choose the good from time
to time. The difference is ALL the time. Remember the tree of the KNOWLEDGE of
good and evil. It seems to me that God wants us to experience the Knowledge of
    both.
  • Glen  - .
    You're joking right?

You are seriously questioning why God made you to Know the difference between
right and wrong? You're made because God gave you the ability to Know right from
wrong? You're made because God gave you the same ability He has to Know the
    difference betweeen right and wrong?

Without this ability we would be running around like the animals on this planet
that do anything. But then again look at the news.
  • Leigh Painter  - God NEVER changes
Hi..first of all God gave us the gift of (Freedom of Choice) after all think
about this..if he just left us to always be perfect as we were in the
beginning...then we would never glorify the Lord for what he has done for
us...because we would know nothing of choosing..thats why He created us to begin
with to glorify him, has nothing to do with us.

Second: Scripture's tell us that "Adam" was the first man(1
Corn:15:45)then go to Gen:3:20 Eve is the mother of all living...so there are 2
    thoughts...

    1. Cain may have married a distant sister, perhaps first-generationsiblings
married each other in order to populate the earth. At that time there was nolaw
against incest. But as the popluation grew large enough, and as the risk of
genetic problems increased because of sin's curse, God outlawed marriage between
    siblings.

    2. Perhaps Cain got his wife from the same place Adam got Eve.......

    But one thing besure o...

I use this in my signature on every email. "The degree to which a person can

Is it possible that your love for Jesus Christ is because you are at home in
your heart without condemnation. Self reflection is only possible when we can
forgive ourselves and know we are forgiven. It is why we can embrace the Law of
God without fear, knowing we are eternally loved and dismissed from a sentence
    of eternal death.
  • Aephus  - Wow
You would rather follow someone that resembles a king then listento your own
reason. You are allowed to doubt, allowed to question. Alllowed to have an
answer that your religious teachings demand should be silenced. As there is no
doubt that a debate lives in the scientific community about everything, you are
the only ones to claim to have definitive answers on everything. If your soul

This poster has made yet another discourse on the very first lie humans ever
believed. So, yes, I would rather follow Jesus of Nazareth's rule as King than
to listen to my own flawed reason. Because my reason leads to death His reason
leads to life. And there is no "good company" where the soul dies. It
    is the "lake of fire".
  • Teacher of English in China  - Ten Commandments - Sabbath
Without getting my precious Bible out to quote directly, let me just give my
opinion of what I believe the Bible means concerning the Sabbath, which is to
spend 24 hours NOT trying to make money, but to spend it with God's people
learning His word, family/leisure time and resting.

Being an American in China, I private tutor students in my home on Sundays, the
only day the majority of Chinese students aren't in school, since many parents
push their kids to learn more knowledge when possible. I also teach an English
Bible Study on Friday nights beginning at 7:30. There is certainly no charge for
this and I consider it an honor and part of my tithe for the Kingdom of God. I
feel I have the Lord's consent to make my Sabbath the same time as the Jewish
Sabbath: Friday 6 p.m. until Saturday 6 p.m. During that time, unless
completely unavoidable, I refuse all work requests. I try to spend more time in

  • Heidi  - 4th Commandment
Leigh, I find your reasoning a bit off. You are saying that because you are Born
Again, you do NOT have to follow God's Commandments as he stated them to Moses
with the Fourth Commandment being, "Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it
holy. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work: But the seventh day is THE
Sabbath of the LORD thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy
son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor
thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and
earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day; wherefore
the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." Exodus 20:8-11

When you are Born Again, don't you want to make sure to continue to keep ALL
laws? Or are you saying you are now immune to them? You can go out and commit
murder, adultery, lie...they were all given as Commandments at the same tim...
  • T.C  - The Truth
To obtain salvation you must have Faith and Works, you can't have one without
the other. If you have Faith and no works then you have a dead faith. No where
does it say in the Bible that you are saved by Faith alone.

  • Kenny O  - Newton's beliefs
Kirk's article on Newton echoes what it says in Ecclesiastes- that everything is
meaningless without God. You can be filthy rich and have everything money can
buy, all your heart's desires, but without God in your life what does it all
really mean? Kirk knows this, he was one of the biggest Hollywood stars around
and he gave it all up to apply his life to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ
and the Holy Bible which is the word of God, every word. I respect Kirk very
    much for his excellent work.
  • Dan  - Ten Commandments
Yes God gave Moses the 10 commandments to the nation of Israel. The one point
you didn't mention is that the Christian Relationship was founded by Jews.
Starting with our God Jesus [Yahshua]. You also seem to forget that when He
wrote them with his finger he intended the tribes to be a light onto the world.
To show the rest of the world what a relationship with the true God was to be.
You should read Isaiah 53 to see what the profit said about Jesus.

A friend forwarded what Kirk had written on Philippians 1:21. We lost our son
last year summer of 2008 to a freak wave in Newcastle, Australia. Jeremy was
serving the Lord with Youth With a Mission since graduating high school in 2003.
Jeremy put a tatoo on his chest before going to Egypt in 2005 and he chose
Philippians 1:21 which is For to me to live is Christ to die is gain. Our son
was never found and the youth that came to Jeremy's memorial in Australia wore
1.21 armbands in green - Jeremy loved green and 1.21 was a shortened version of
Philippians 1:21. The youth the next wore them to school and the other students
would ask what is 1.21 and that opened the door to share about Jeremy's
relationship to Jesus. Armbands led to wristbands to testimony cards. The
testimony cards are now in Telegu, Urdu (Pakistan), Hindi, Arabic, Indonesian,

I believe Mr. Lincoln was very much like Thomas Jefferson- critical of the Bible

Cherries? in the bible? I love cherries! I did not see one! Man! I want
cherries! Lots and lots of cherries! Where did you see the cherry pickers? I
have seen pomaganits and olives and grapes. Even straw and wheat and barley.
But Cherries...Hmmm no cherries. Man I am gonna have to start all over from the
    begining!

So then let us talk about cherry picking in science shall we? What will be
accepted and what won't. This is a weak position, sister.
  • MikeOwens  - Regarding Lincoln
Lincoln's quotes are a mix of athiest and Christian because he was not saved
until after his son Willy died. According to Ken Burns series done several years
ago, Abraham Lincoln was saved after an encounter with a man outside the White
House. According to Burns, Lincoln was in deep depression and on suicide watch
    shortly after Willy died.

While returning to the White House one evening, a man yelled to Mr. Lincoln
"Your son is alive". When the President heard this, he was astonished
and ended up inviting the man into the White House. The visitor explained that
David's son went to Heaven (as a child) and that he would go to be with him.

Shortly after, Lincoln professed his faith in Jesus Christ.

he said to keep it holy, for jesus was the sabbath putting away mans foolishness.
  • barley  - Ten Commandments
    Mr. Avraham,
It is certainly true that the Ten Commandments were given by God to Moses to
give to the children of Israel. They were not given to the Gentile nations,
(although Gentiles would certainly benefit from living them.) It is also worth
while to remember that Abraham, Jacob's grandfather was not an Israelite, but
rather a Gentile. Noah was also a Gentile. I do not read where Noah or
Abraham kept the sabbath, I could be wrong, if I am, I would appreciate being
    corrected.
  • Julio Brasileiro  - The Ten Commandments
    Dear Calev

You're right when you said, initially, that the commandments that God gave to
Israel at Sinai were just to the Israel people. But, is good to remember the
main Lord's Purpose for Israel was to reveal himself to the nations by all his
manifestations, and wisdow, and law in Israel. Israel was chosen by God for the
"all nations realize that God is the Lord". So, if an stranger believe
and keep the God's law, there's only one law, for the jewish and for the
foreign. Really, the jewish people is under the Noachite Covenant, because
you're also descendents from his son Sem. God took a rest day after the creation
of the world (seventh day) and the resting time of God teach us about the
importance of separate a time for God in our schedule. This is the great reality
of the Sabbath concept. God bless you.
