Great Quotes with Kirk - Arthur Pink
KirkCameron.jpgFaith is frequently represented in Scripture, under the metaphor of bodily sight. Of Moses it is said that "he endured as seeing Him who is invisible" Hebrews 11:27. That is, his heart was sustained through faith's being occupied with the mighty God.

The eye is a very delicate thing--it is soon hurt and easily damaged. A tiny speck of dust will cause pain and make it weep. It is very striking to note, that this is the very way to recovery--it weeps out the dust that gets into it.

Just so, faith is a most delicate grace, thriving best in a pure conscience. Hence the apostle speaks of "holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience" (1 Timothy 3:9). The lively actings of faith are soon marred by the dust of sin, or by the vanities of the world getting into the heart where it is seated. And wherever true faith is--if it is hurt by sin--it vents itself in a way of godly sorrow.

~ Arthur Pink

"The Eye of Faith"

Faith is often used synonomously with the word "trust". In my own experience, I've learned that trust is a very delicate thing. It's like a crystal vase- easily shattered, and once broken, very difficult to restore. I've learned to guard my wife's trust. If I am to know the full measure of Chelsea's love, I must keep my word to her, be faithful and loyal to the very end, and treasure her above every other woman on earth. When pride, ego, or unfaithfulness creeps in (in any form), trust is damaged and the relationship is in danger. Trust thrives when love is pure, but dies in unfaithfulness. Even so, faith flourishes in a pure heart alone. If you are a Christian, examine your heart today and see if there be any wicked way in you. Expel the foreign objects of sin through godly sorrow and restore your pure eye of faith.

Why is the only way you feel you can get your over zealous propaganda out to
people by duping them into taking a free book. You know over half the people
probably skipped the intro anyway and half of the half that read the intro throw
the book away and the other half probably just ignore it. All of you are
brainwashed kirk...not this generation All of you born agains need to KEEP IT TO
YOURSELF no one cares what you think will happen to them after they die, frankly
its none of your business. You are passing out books at universities to
potentially educated people? historically thats not really the demographic that
comes running home to jesus if you know what i mean( they think for themselves)
No one there wants to fall victim to your idealogical slavery. Why dont you go
pass out books at a Wal Mart your more likely to find plenty of gullible
half-wits there to join your cause

I believe that everyone in their heart truly believes there's a God. How could
they not?? Atheists always wonder how we can believe in God i say how can you
NOT believe in God. My mind can't think like that.
  • andy1968  - Ashley
    Ashley, you said:

'Atheists always wonder how we can believe in God i say how can you NOT believe
    in God.'

It's simple, because there is not one single shread of evidence. Nobody has ever
seen him or heard him. It's very easy not to believe in a God. The bible was
written by people so is very unlikely to be the work of an all powerful being.

    Thanks Andy.
  • Glen  - Andy
Hello Andy. Always saying there is no evidence. You are evidence! Evidence is
all around you. You are a Chemist Right? You have Never see even one atom yet
you not only believe in them but make a living using their attributes. To say
you cannot believe without seeing is not your way or practice. Now the Son has
seen and has come to tell us all about God. In fact the Son is God. To say no
one has seen Him is also incorrect. There are a multidute of witnesses to the
Son. They just are not you. And that is what troubles you; what vexes you
isn't it? Andy I have not written any of these words with a mean heart. They
are challenging words for you. I know that because they challege your concept
    of "Proof".
  • andy1968  - Glen
Thanks Glen. You said that we are the evidence but that is my point we are
evidence of the evolutionary process. All the evidence points to evolution - I
can't help thinking like that. If there is a God then he did everything in his
power to make it look as though evolution is true; he put all the fossils in the
right places in the rocks; he put all the rocks in the right places
geographically. I think some people have a predisposition toward religion. At
this point I would say that it is upbringing but we have mentioned that before
and I know you don't agree with that.

    Andy.
  • Glen  - No He did not.
Andy, God did not write the Origin of the Species. That was a man and his
imagination that put things together that were not to be put together. Non
sequitor is how another person put it; Latin for "it does not follow".
God placed everything in its correct place, it was man that formulated the
unsubstatiated theory. Now, Predisposition for religion is also a manufactured
excuse made by man to attempt escape from that which he cannot escape. Andy I
am really trying here to put a much better foot forward but you still did not
answer the posit of, "What caused you to fall away?" Let us start with
why you no longer beleive? Really what happened?
  • andy1968  - faith
As for me I have always trusted science, but I did go through a phase where I
thought if humans are the highest intellect on the planet and they cannot make
something as simple as a blade of grass then there must be a higher power. The
science came through and I accept evolution now. But that accepting of being an
atheist for me is like a religious testimony. I suddenly realised the awe
inspiring beauty of the natural universe. Everything became clear and a weight
lifted off my shoulders - a tremendous liberation. I know it's a Godless
testimony but that's the way it happened.

    Andy.
  • Glen  - interesting
That is an interesting testamony. I used to be in the slavery of teh world you
know. My conversdations with you should be demontrative of that. I, too, would
stand in this awe that you are discussing. I sometimes just fealt like I was
being drawn into it almost. The shear vastness of it! I just cannot comprehend
it! Science is a valuable tool for the understanding of how this place works.
I love watching people try to figure it out. For years I tried. It wasn't
until a few years ago that I had a moment very much like the one you have
described; liberation. I have a great deal of Hope for you and that is why I
    continue our talks.
  • Glen  - Fossils
Andy I want to say more about this I think. The fossile record is just as Ray
states. All of them are fully mature and not one,is a transitional form. I
don't think anyone will ever convince you of that so I don't know why I am
trying. Once you stated that our DNA has the traces of all the evolutionary
process. I'd like for you to show me where the beta-lactamase gene is in the
human genome. This is the gene confering the antibiotic resistance to
penicillin(s). If we have it, penicillin would never have worked. Anitbiotic
resistance is the leading evidence for evolution in bacteria.
  • Glen  - Upbringing
Andy, Yeah we disagree on upbringing. Yet the Apostle Paul went through
Macedonia where the peoples were brought up to worship metal effagies and were
transformed by the gospel. Some were given to being temple prostitutes. All
sorts of Roman citizen's were transformed. So many in the Chineese world are
being transformed even today as we speak. Those guys can get killed for it too.
Not to mention all the others in countries where they will be slaughtered for
knowing God. Knowledge and upbringing have a part in unbelief but it is Faith
borne of knowledge and proof that brings us out of the dark. I would like to
say it is good to converse with you on this topic.
  • andy1968  - Upbringing
Thanks Glen, when I say upbringing I mean people in the west are generally
Christian and Middle east and eastern countries are islamic. India has Buddism.
There are only a few apostates in these camps, but it just so happens that the
region you are brought up in determines your religious faith. I was speaking
    generally as well as individually.

    Andy.
  • Glen  - Keen
Andy, these are very keen observations. I think I must agree with you for the
majority of these observations. I also don't know much about these other
religions. That said, my geographical location has supported your observations
as I have been reared in the USA. I cannot even offer you a "yea but..."
argument. I would like to take the time to be thankful that God placed me in
the States so I would not be forced to endure the wrath of these other beliefs.
I am privilaged in this way.
  • Amy  - What an uplifting message
My Savior is in heaven. I owe him EVERYTHING!!!

Each day I repent my sins with Godly sorrow.I know that I know that my savior
LIVES!!!!! This life on earth is not the end. We are to go out into the world
and witness to people about Jesus. Please pick up a Bible and know that this is
    indeed not the end.
  • C.R. Harris  - Faith/Trust
    Dear Kirk,

Wonderful way to put it; a friend and I have just been discussing Calvinism,
    faith, predestination,etc.

Thanks Kirk, for letting God be center for you!

  • Keith Allen
    Mr. Texas "Truth" Teller.

I have a couple of quotes for you as well. I disagree with you and you answer
with a threat. That is all you people have...fear. I have love, and reason. I
am selfish, and I am very proud of it.

It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone
collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone
being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and
masters, and intends to be the master.

    (Ayn Rand)

"Men never commit evil so fully and joyfuly as when they do it for religious
    convictions"

    (Blaise Pascal)
  • Sandee  - Terrific Point
Kirk, great picture from A.Pink. Praise Jesus who is the author and finisher of
our faith. For more quotes by A. Pink get THE OTHER SIDE OF CALVINISM by
Laurence M. Vance. A truly amazing read.
  • Texas Truth Teller  - Very presumptuous indeed!
Mr. Allen, you are very presumptuous in your attitude. First of all, you assume
that "there is no end game", ie, you will have "nothing to worry
about" beyond the grave. That is, no personal accountability to your
Creator. Second, you assume that life is all about what makes YOU
"happy". This is very selfish indeed, and it shows you to be the very
guilty sinner that God says you are. I was just reading in Luke 12, where Jesus
    warns, "Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell;
yea, I say unto you, fear him." (vs.4&5) followed by the solemn warning to
those who live self centered lives that one day God will come to them saying,
"Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall
those things be which thou hast provided?" (vs.16-21). You would do well to
TAKE HEED. Your days are numbered, every heart beat and every breath is a gift.
    And ...
  • Keith Allen  - How?
How can you live your life thinking only about death? I can live happily
because I know this is my one shot. There is no end game, no prize to win,
except my own happiness here on Earth. I can be moral because I choose to be,
not out of fear. I can feel love and give it to who I wish and not give it to
who I wish. My love is more pure because it is not given out blindly, but given
to those who deserve it. Stop fearing death. When you are dead you are gone.
You will not be around to dwell on how awful it is to be dead. Please don
  • Steve
Keith! You seem to speak with such absolute assurance and knowledge that nothing
exists beyond this life, as though you had taken already the journey and back to
know for sure that life ends at the grave? I make this comment not to be smart,
but to demonstrate the absurdity of being so sure of something a person has had
not experienced, and gained knowledge from. Where does all this assurance you
have come from? What experiences have you had to make you so absolutely sure. I
encourage you to watch www.seektofindgod.com and see one man's story and
evidence that the end of this life, is just the beginning.
  • kenna gonzalez  - house/residential painter
I agree with your quote, that recovery is very painful. It requires time spent
at the feet of the cross, faith in my maker, that He will do what He
promises...He is my Husband now, I lost mine to drugs, adultery and pornography.
Yes, recovery is painful, but through Grace and Faith is Jesus, everything is
    posible...
