MEDIA ADVISORY, Sept. 18 /Christian Newswire/ -- This weekend The Wall Street Journal pitted atheism against God (Sept. 12-13th 2009, page W1). The full-page piece was adorned with huge graphics of Charles Darwin going head-to- head with God. Best-selling author Ray Comfort said, "The problem was that both perspectives were pro-atheistic evolution. It was a farce in the guise of "Man vs. God." The newspaper is free to publish anything they wish, but they are revealing either ignorance or a strong bias. Darwin wasn't anti-God at all. In his famous book Origin of Species Darwin refers to creation as the 'works of God,' and calls Him the 'Creator' an amazing seven times. The Journal's 'pro-God' side of the argument conceded defeat in the very first sentence. It was pathetic. It's precisely because of this prevalent ignorance (or dishonesty) that we are giving away 50,000 copies of Origin of Species throughout universities in the United States this November."

Comfort plans to give away free a 304 page publication of Origin of Species at 50 top universities on the original book's 150th anniversary. It is being published in conjunction with his new book, Nothing Created Everything (World Net Daily) in which he reveals what atheists such as Richard Dawkins actually believe. "I have had many conversations that go like this," Comfort said.

"So you are an atheist. Do you then believe that nothing created everything, which is a scientific impossibility?"

No."

"So you believe that something created everything?"

"Yes."

"Then you're not an atheist."

"Okay."

The author, who hosts an award-winning television program, with actor Kirk Cameron, said, "All you have to do is present unbiased facts about the unscientific and unthinking nature of atheistic evolution, and then watch people change their minds (we have a number of professing atheists do that on camera). And when God is brought back into their worldview, they think about the importance of living in regard to moral absolutes. Evolution says that there is no absolute right or wrong, and that human beings are nothing but meaningless animals. God says that we have worth, and that there is absolute right and wrong. That changes everything."

He added, "We are very excited to give away Origin of Species because the introduction not only reveals Darwin's thoughts on the existence of God, but it lists the theory's many hoaxes, exposes the unscientific belief that nothing created everything, points to the incredible structure of DNA, and the absence of any species-to-species transitional forms. It presents a balanced view of Creationism with information on scientists who believed that God created the universe-- scientists such as Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Nicholas Copernicus, Francis Bacon, Michael Faraday, Louis Pasteur and Johannes Kepler."

Not everyone is excited about students getting both sides of the argument. One atheist said, "In this instance, I would advocate book-burning." The full introduction can be freely read on www.livingwaters.com.

  • Dan  - Creation vs Evolution:
Iv'e been reading these comments and to say

the least their thought provoking. I believe

in the creator Jesus. Because the Bible which

I also believe is inerant. Shows me.

But just saying that won't prove anything to

a person who rejects the very idea of the one

true God, or any god for that matter.

Im not smart enough to be able explain all of

these things. You might check out information

provided by the former atheist Dr. Carl Baugh.

The decision you make effects eternity, and if

your right then none of this means anything,

Since were all animals anyway, and when we die

    it's all over.

But, if Christians are right and you reject

Jesus and his offer than you'll have to answer

to him without any recourse. The Lord loves all of us, but He won't be mocked.

Please, instead of getting angry because neither side is listening. Ask him to
    show you

OK Richdiskask where in the Bible is it written that we are like filthy rags...
Isaiah 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean and all our righteous
acts are like filthy rags we all shrivel up like a leaf and like the wind our
sins sweep us away. But I like Matthew 22:37 Love the Lord with all your heart
and with all your soul and with all your mind. And love your neighbor as
yourself. It is tragic that you do not believe in God. But if you would just
read some of the Bible you would see the true nature of Jesus love for mankind.
  • Glen  - Government
I want to state unequivically that I beleive in our governmental system. I used
it above as an example only. nothing more.

  • Glen  - The truck
I saw a bit of avideo in church this sunday. The fellow stated a parable about a
truck bearing down on a man in the street and that someone should tell him about
it and at some point of this guy not listening someone should tackle him to save
him from the truck. Inerestingly argued. Jesus did just that. Only he tackled
    the truck!

    g
  • Drew  - ... the other side of the coin
If a person believes a truck is indeed barrelling down, I appreciate their
desire to stop it from hitting someone.

HOWEVER ... if there is indeed NO truck whatsoever, then the savior/helper would
have to be viewed in a completely different light ...
  • glen  - flip side baby
Drew, you have a very well presented oposing viewpoint that has been dealt with
by Jesus of Nazareth. Please read John 16:5-11. The flip side has alread been
condemned by the One with the Authority to do so.
  • Kevin  - be careful about your logical progressions
The origin of the universe is not something anyone can prove. Saying that
everything came from nothing is impossible does not therefore mean that God
exists. It just means we don't know what happened. You choose to believe
something that is written in an old book... but you can't prove the existence of
a God any more than I can prove it doesn't exist. We simply can't know. I
apologize if I've offended anyone. I'm just trying to point out that the logic
    presented here has some flaws.
  • Charles Stephens  - Witchdoctor
The origin of the universe can't be proven YET. Just because we are a class
zero civilization only 100 or 200 years into its modern age dosent mean that
there aren't tecnologys out there that my prove or disprove these things.
  • glen  - what?
I also believe in an old not so dusty 'cause it's in a vacuum chamber document
that is hand written and I can barely read the author's scratchings. It is call
the Constitution of the United States of America. Does that mean the USA does
not exist? a logical statement using your logical assumptions.

Of course the answer is the USA is visible there and self evident! So is God's
creation. As a result one can state the existance of the constitutions author's
and the existance of God is the same issue.

"we simply can't know..." The only reason you know anything is because
you were taught it.Only very rarely is there an epiphanic original thought that
    has never before happened.

  • glen  - science fixion
another thing about this expansion theory...everytime i read anything about it
these very intelligent men speak only of the univeral bodies moving away from
us-ie. red shifted. It is where the "big bang" came fromand then morfed
into the singularity stuff you are considering.

What about all the universal bodies moving toward us-ie blue shifted. did they
bounce or is the universe shriking as fast as it is expanding?

No I got it! The other universe's bodies have invaded ours. THey have crossed
over from their universe to our and vice vesra! But where is the rift? it is
everywhere yet nowhere. How do find it?
  • Charles Stephens  - ?
What books have you been reading? Who have you been listening too?

I read books by verified scientists, People like Michio Kaku (Theoritical
Physics), Frank Wilczek (Quantum Physics), Scientist's blogs, among others. So
tell me, what gives you the right to talk about somthing you know nothing about?
Just because you haven't heard about this theory, dosn't mean it doesnt exist,
It just means your Either ignorant, or you heard from someone else that it isn't
    true and frogot about it.
  • Glen  - Charlie
It is still nothing more than a math equation. A fit of imagination that is
worked out by rules created by men.

God is not ruled by the math equation.
  • Glen  - No nothing about
Interesting. I cannot speak about something I have been pigeon holed into
knowing nothing about while others speak very clearly about God when they
obviously don't know Him. Theirs is accepted while mine is rejected.
Fascinating! BTW: My post was little more than satire. Maybe you can take a
graduate level course in humor so that you can know it exists and then recognize
it when you see it. BTW: I am niether ignorant nor mislead. The most recent
book that I am reading is "How To Be Born Again" by Billy Graham. It is
my second time through it. I really enjoy how Billy explains things. He is a
blessing. But you meant science, Mostly from Geordi LaForge and Montgomery
Scott. Though I have learned a lot from Comanders Spok and Data. Yes it is
    humor.
  • Drew  - the point
The original point here was not a pro or con on the position, just pointing out
that the conclusion drawn is not based on reason. Doesn't mean it's the WRONG
conclusion ... you just can't get there from here.

If no one can know (currently) what existence was "before" the big bang
... the no one knows - period. Could have been something (maybe the last
universe before testing a LHC? :p), could have been nothing ...

"Must be God" is not a logical conclusion - it's a shoehorn. Doesn't
mean it's not the right answer, but that it can't be inferred ...
  • Glen  - reason
Who said it was not drawn by reason? Are there an esoteric set of reason rules?
And one can get there from here, Drew. As before I have stated that there is
One that knows what existed before and He has told us. That one is God. Full
revelation has come through Jesus of Nazareth. I never say "It must be
God". I say and testify to "God has told Us". Your answers always
lead to there is no right or wrong and that is your down fall. There is
absolute right, Just, and Good. Jesus is His name! Glory to Him!
  • Don  - In The Beginning... GOD created
Kevin - I respect your view, only because my creator ( and yours ) says, he
gives each of us freedom of choice - you believe or you don't. Now that's not
    difficult, is it?!

I chose to believe, not only that but MORE importantly I accepted Jesus Christ
as my savior, because HE payed my SIN debt in full at Calvary.

There are over 25,000 manuscripts to support GOD, JESUS, and the HOLY SPIRIT /
Old Testament and New Testament. Written by 66 men of 15 countries over a period
of 1500 years. Open your eye's my friend BEFORE your time runs out! You will not
get a second chance as far as I know.

The above men were inspired by the Holy Spirit ( whom God sent ) in Jesus's
place when he acsended into Heaven. This event was witnessed by several people.

There were 12 apostles who were hand picked by Jesus to walk with him - be
witnesses to HIS miracles, to be taught to carry HIS Gospel TO THE FOUR CORNERS
    OF THE EARTH. They d...
  • Skeen  - Proof?
Proof? Proof is not the point. Ephesians 2:8 states, "For by grace you
have been saved through faith..." --NOT PROOF, BUT THROUGH FAITH. You
will get the proof you demand--one day--Guaranteed! Just don't be naive enough
to wait for the proof before you have faith. If you think about it, on
judgement day, every single soul will BELIEVE. Yet, for only a few will it not
be too late. If you will, hell is full of believers---they believed only after
    facing the Judge!
  • Charles Stephens  - Witchdoctor
This is full of holes, its so holey, that it Looks like swiss cheese.

Where to start, with the fact that most of the scientists that you mention were
alive before our civilization existed in "modern" terms. Or that
misconception that exists in the form of "nothing created nothing."

I'll start with the big bang. The Big Bang is not, in then traditional sense,
an explosion. It is a massive expandature of Space-Time which releases large
amounts of Matter-Energy into the that expandature. This hyperdense expanding
miniverse soon, and when I say soon, expands into a universe like our own.

Now you may say: "but this expandature comes from nothing!" Where as I
replie: "HA! Wrong!" Warning, this concept I am about to talk about is
extremly hard to imagine, and is on the border of inimaginablity. This universe
exists as one of many. Each one has diffrent fundemental forces...
  • Hargelon  - Response to Witchdoctor
PROVE to me that the "Big Bang" was "a massive expanditure of
Space-Time... yadda yadda yadda". TRUE science MUST be repeatable. You
cannot. Ergo: for all your arrogance and pseudo-science, you are nothing more
than a believer in soemething you have neither seen nor heard. GASP! Your
"science" is your religion! Wake up and delve deep. Look for TRUTH.
Do not accept what others have told you. Find out for yourself. God says that
those who seek Him will find Him. Have you ever even THOUGHT about doing some
checking for yourself? or do you just consume whatever has been handed to you as
long as it fits with your pre-conceived notions?

I was a sceptic. I was a believer in the "big bang" and
"evolution" until I took the time to study it for myself. I would
challenge you to do it today. Do not wait. You never know how much time you
have left on this planet. May God be with y...
  • Charles Stephens  - Witchdoctor
Hmm, I love this. I was once talking to a friend, and we were debateing. He
brought a very good point onto me. I would try to prove my arguements but he
would say: "But you can't PROVE to me that this happened" And nothing
I would say would beat this. I couldn't prove that Hydrogen Fuses into Helium
in the center of stars. Much less could I prove that the Big Bang is a massive
expanditure of Space-Time. Needless to say, I lost that debate.

But a curious thing happens when a scientific mind loses a debate. And this is
what makes the scientific mind diffrent from the normal and religous minds. I
thought over what I said, what he said, the points he brought up, the points I
brought up. And I saw my Error, the same Error that you are using right now.

Its simple, I relized nothing in science is ever PROVEN. At least, not in the
tradition sence of the word. I relized that, a scientific theory is b...
  • Charles Stephens  - Witchdoctor
There is one more point I would like to bring up. Where as the Big Bang Theory
does have actual evidence to back it up, in the form of Cosmic Background
Radiation, and Red Shift. The other theorys I brought up, I.E: The Multiverse
Theory, and M-theory, Only really work in math. It has no testable evidence to
back it up. Does that make it automaticaly wrong? You would say that it does,
and thus proving mine right because of your lack of evidence!

There are two points I want to put up this time. The first is, even if there is
no evidence to support or refute a hypothesis, doesn't mean that that evidence
will not be found in the future. Especially if the Hypothesis works in MATH.

Second, even if the hypothesis is wrong, dosent mean that there aren't better
hypothesisie out there. You almost certainly do not need to envoke God to
explain the phemomena that accur. This does not conflict with a belief in a...
  • Sparky  - Response to Hargelon
No. True scientific experiments must be repeatable. Scientific experiment does
not equal scientific theory. Theories explain what is found in these
experiments. The Big Bang Theory explains red shift and the Universe's
background radiation very well and is not contradicted by anything and so it is
accepted as the current explanation for these observations.

There is no absolute truth in science. I do not believe in scientific theories
but I accept them as the best current explanation of the observations that they
explain. They are subject to change as soon as contradictory observations are
made. Theories are impossible to prove correct but also should be impossible to
disprove with the observations of the time.
  • Steve  - Space-Time cannot product Matter
    Thermodynamics already proves this

Energy = Work, things in science always degrade they don't increase, then
degrade to the point in which they can produce no more energy.

    Space-Time produces nothing.

Space is the emptiness / nothingness between matter ? In fact Space is the lack
    of everything else.
So you have nothing aka Space in between matter if and when matter comes into
    existence.

So if you have no matter, then you have Space which is emptiness, and then your
topic of Space-Time which does not equate to anything.

Please describe what you call Space-Time
This simply does not make much sense to me and I doubt it makes much sense to
anyone else. Although some could care about this it's likely that most simply do
    not.

I happen to be one of these freaks who do enjoy discussing these types of
    topics.
  • Charles Stephens  - I am SO Sorry
You are right, I did not give a definition to spacetime in the first half of the
post, and I cannot remeber if I did in the second half (the part that is cut
off) So the result is a ton of confusion.

Now, before I begin to bastradize this subject(I might not be able to help you
understand this) I will suggest to you a book, it is called
    "Hyperspace" by Michio Kaku.

This reminds me that I will have to reread that book too, I know the Laws of
Thermodynamics. I also know how they work, but

for the moment I cannot think straight, it is too late in the night to think
about this, so I will come back in a while to give an anwser. And I am not
happy that that post got cut off, I'm pretty sure I explained in the latter half
of it. Most of my posts had much more to them that cut out. >.<

  • glen
charles you are aware that you are discussing a theory that is nothing more the
an complex mathematical equation? This equation is designed to tell the
operator only what that equation can do? All you have to do is add a little
chicken scratching here or there and it does something completely different?

Step out of teh sci-fi and look around my friend. This place and the air you
breath is not a mathematical equation.

    g
  • Charles Stephens  - Yes
I do know that the theorys that I speek of exist mostly in math. But they are
better than "god did it" because it is possible to test them. Maybe not
with our current level of technology, but still certaintly possible.

Now, I hope you are aware that my comments were cut off due to constraints (they
need to fix that somehow) but I said later on in those posts that I was unlike
fundmentalists because if Evidence came up that disproved my theories, then I
was wrong and had to change them.

Now with that is said, you are right about one thing, those theorys only exist
in Math with small amounts of observable evidence. But I will point out that
many theorys came into being before the evidence could be found to support them
because they had a Mathmatical Equations to support them. Indead, Mathmatics
holds alot of sway in Science, more so than God for that matter.
  • Glen  - Oh may
Charles, you do know God created you evironments that your math equations are
trying to define!?!?!??! Oh, yes there is no god right? You are only writing
and studying math equations that define nothing!?!?!?!!?

I took have a great distaste for the cutting off of ones trian of thought.
Happened to me several times. so I do several short ones. SO then I'll give you
this one to chew on. Not with our level of technology can we prove God exists.
I don't need tech. All that is required if faith. Just like the faith that
    math equation actually does something.

Erica Ruth Badgerow said, "Quote me where it says in your holy bible that
    god doesn't believe in atheists...."

Answer, Romans 1:18-25: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all
ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress
the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has
shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and
divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the
world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For
although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but
they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal
God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Therefore God gave them up i...
  • Erica Ruth Badgerow  - CRAZYYYY
i am an atheist and there are two reasons......

    1. i believe in science and the proof of science

    2. people like you all, people who think i am wrong for what i believe, people
who act like it is your word or no word, and mainly because people like you
    suck!

i am sick of just because i believe one way, i am wrong. Ray, who are you to say
what i believe? Quote me where it says in your holy bible that god doesn't
believe in atheists...a true "christian" won't look down on me, won't
treat me wrong, and basically accept me for who and what i believe, just as i
would for them. i guess that makes me a self-centered sinner.
  • Alice  - CRAZYYYY??
Erica, I used to believe as you do many years ago well into my twenties. I
accepted the many lessons I was taught in school about Darwin, evolution, the
Big Bang theory and the rest of it unquestioningly. I slammed the door in the
face of Bible-thumpers who dared to invite me to a Billy Graham crusade. Why
then do I now write this reply to you as a Christ-believing woman? God loved me
into a life changing faith, that's why. I recognize the tenor of your defensive
answer, the knee-jerk response that basically says "just leave me alone and
let me believe what I want". The problem is, when someone truly is a
Christian and does what God commands to love other people, we cannot stand idly
by watching you die in your sin and unbelief without at least telling you the
truth about God's incredible love for you and his gift of salvation for
eternity. If I am right, you have never read the Bible in any real sense for
    you...
  • Hargelon  - Please read my response to "Witchdoctor"
You claim you believe in science and the proof of science. Please make a Big
Bang for me. I'll even settle for a Small Bang. You know, the kind that will
make the birds and the flowers and the tigers and the stars and the clouds and
the seashells and the mountains and the... well, you get my point. No
"bang", however big, could EVER create something from nothing. To
blindly accept science is just the same as blindly accepting religion. DO YOUR
OWN STUDY. DO NOT TAKE ANOTHER'S WORD. God says that those who seek Him will
find Him. I pray you honestly seek TRUTH. The TRUTH will set you free.
  • Richdisk  - Help me understand
Intelligent design: anything as complex as life MUST have been created.
Examples used in the video - Ford truck, building, painting etc.

Musn't God then, having created all the complexity of life, also be ultimately
    complex?

Since you say complex things must have a creator, and God must be a complex
entity - then who created God? And who created God's creator? And so on, and
    so on...?

You scoff at "nothing" creating "everything", but accept this
    "logic"?

    Once again, help me understand.
  • Steve  - Logic
I would be happy to express this subject the best I can.

I think I understand your statement here and would like to try to clarify.

You see science has given you the idea of cause and effect, nothing from nothing
leaves nothing. = No cause = No effect.

So if there was nothing in the beginning then you would still have nothing,
since there would be no cause and no effect.
But this is scientific view and not really that of a Creation theory.

    You have stated:
Since you say complex things must have a creator, and God must be a
complex entity - then who created God? And who created God's creator? And so
    on, and so on...?

    Response:
But this spawns from the scientific view that nothing comes from nothing. In
other words these are the views of science not necessarily a Creation view.

And so whats happening here is that the Creationist is trying to review the
    scientific view of some...

    Hi

    CRAZYYY is right, consider this:

    You said
    1. i believe in science and the
    proof of science

    Response:
You have somehow missed the point. I believe that since science sort of claims
to be the pursuit of truth and that the observation or concrete evidence is
required in order to be considered proof or fact, then this is the very subject
in which is questioned and not necessarily the subject matter itself. So to say
that you believe in science and the proof of science is either something your
just repeating or something you've been told and believe. The reason I say this
is because as the site has pointed out many times over that many of the things
you claim you believe in have not basis in science what so ever and that you
simply continue to believe in those things based on nothing more then faith and
faith alone. And although proving that many of the topics that you may currently
    hold ...
  • Glen  - you are not crazy honey...
Erica, honey you are most cretainly not crazy. You are a member of the
"Entitlement" generation. It goes something like this, you are entitled
to anything wrong and no one is allowed to tell you that it is wrong.

Like stealing. No no don't tell me that is wrong. Like lying. No,no don't you
dare tell me that is wrong.

Erica, once you have taken a stand the even one ting is wrong you have become a
hipcrite in your own ways becasue now you are drwing a line boyond which you

  • Charles Stephens  - Not the way to put things
Erica, I understand your plight, but that post was pointless. You did not
sucecced in anything than makeing other atheists and yourself look like idiots.
You used no grammer, and you put it in terms of "YOU" in most of it and
did not defend yourself at all. In short, you do not use evidence. You do not
support yourself, and indoing so, you put forward a weak arguement.

Now I agree with you on the topic, that Ray has no right to say what an atheist
is, and that I belive in Scientific theorys that are supported by imperical
evidence. But please try to not troll.
  • Skeen  - You've got it all wrong
    Erica,

You've got it all wrong. Christians don't look down on you. And science is
flawed. How many times over the past 20 years (the height of modern science)
has science corrected itself? How many times have you heard, "It has been
common knowledge up to now that...But, now it's been discovered that..." It
was only 60 years ago that medical science's rule in surgery was "Do not
touch the heart." Science books from just 10 years ago are in error due to
new discoveries. How can you place all your hope to the questions of God's
existence on a doctrine (science) that constantly proves itself wrong?
  • Ray Sanders  - Einstein
Einstein did not believe in the Christian god. He believe in Spinoza's god. To
imply that he believed in the Christian god is a falsehood. Christian should
not lie to promote their faith. I am a former believer who has discovered the
truth. There is no Easter Bunny, there is no Santa Claus and organised religion
doesn't have a clue to the truth. I do.
  • FERNANDO  - easter bunny, Santa are not of God
THESE ARE PAGAN TRADITIONS THAT WERE MIXED IN. THE BIBLE SAYS WE SHOULDN'T HOLD
TRADITIONS, BUT BELIEVE THE WORD OF GOD. THE WORD EASTER IS DERIVED FROM THE
NAME OF A PAGAN (FALSE) "goddess", AND OFFENSIVE TO GOD.
  • johnsonr26  - Finishing the argument presented here
Ray Comfort: "So you are an atheist (sic). Do you then believe that nothing
created everything, which is a scientific impossibility?"

    Athiest: No." (sic.)

RC: "So you believe that something created everything?"

    A: "Yes."

RC: "Then you're not an atheist."

A: "Okay." (facepalm) "Mr. Comfort, your first question begs the
question of whether everything was 'created', and also begs the question of what
is something and what is nothing. Your arguments are reductio ad absurdum
applied improperly, conclusory, and flat wrong. I would welcome a dialogue on
creation, which this isn't. Good day."
  • Hargelon  - Response to johnsonr26
    Mr. Johnson,

I (obviously) am not Ray Comfort. However, I felt compelled to open a discourse
with you. However, as I began writing my opening statement that would (I had
hoped) initiate the dialogue, I took a moment to re-read your response to Mr.
Comfort. With your statement, "... your first question begs the question of
    whether

everything was 'created', and also begs the question of what is something and

what is nothing," I determined that you are not rational enough to converse
with. A very good day to you.
  • Glen  - D.E.N.I.A.L.
In the face of true to ignor it conpletely is called denial!

    Good day to you too.
  • Texas Truth Teller  - "No absolutes" an absolute impossibility!
Praise God for a man of God like Ray Comfort who is willing to take on the
skeptics on their own turf. I prefer to refer to them as such, rather than

"atheists", because, as Ray points out in the title of his excellent
    book,

"God doesn't believe in atheists", there really is no such thing. They
use their "atheism" as a convenient excuse to try and hide their real
problem: sinful self righteousness, which God's word describes as "filthy
rags". This is nothing but unbelieving pride. It is pride, not
"evidence", that is the ONLY obstacle to the skeptic being saved. They
simply refuse to believe, because believing that "there IS a God"
logically leads to what they avoid like the plague: PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY.

No man wants to acknowledge he is wrong and God is right, that we will all one
day be judged by our Creator. Sinners love their sin, they are self centered,

  • Ruben Suarez  - They cannot hear or see
Absolutely right on. When those that can see and understand His words,
understand what He says about those who cant see or understand, then we must
understand that it should not frustrate us but should teach us so that we can
point to them and teach our own why they cant understand and will not
understand. It is our duty to help those who are willing to see and hear do that
but the rest have a father as mentioned in His words and he has claimed them and
while they act in blindful ignorance and call themselves the brilliant they act
just as the father that has claimed their lives for eternity. We are not of this
    world.
  • Richdisk  - Help me understand
I was raised as a Christian, but freely admit to struggling at this point in my
life with these issues. I really wish people would rise above name calling in
this forum and attempt to be helpful.

What scripture describes atheists as "filthy rags"?

I've also heard many, MANY Christians use that same word - "filthy" -
    to describe Muslims and Jews.

So is the practice of another religion equivilent to atheism? Is there any
scripture to support an answer to that question?
  • Glen  - richdisk
hey rich since you like to look go to biblegateway.com and search these subects
under "keyword" searches. There you will find truth about what God
says. The "filthy rags" issue is about all people, btw. Good works as
we call them don't impress God because it is nothing more than a bribe. God is
Holy, yes, but also right-eous and just. I spelled righteous witha hyphen on
purpose. A bribe is a corrupt practice and to accept it would also be corrupt.
God is not corrupt. He is right-eous. Everything He does is right. Hard for
us to grasp since all we know is corrupt. Many people claim to be christians but
don't even know what it means to be one. In fact, many christians think their
good works inside their church will get them to pass. Some even think a
"coat tial" from their parents or spouses will get them in. Any way I
    suggest you look. good luck!

  • Sparky  - Response to Texas Truth Teller
    Amusing.

I wasn't aware that you could read the mind of every person lacking belief in a
    deity and see this.

The funny thing is that I have spent years of my life learning, observing and
searching before coming to the conclusion that, at present, there is
insufficient evidence for me to believe in a deity.

I have no qualms about taking responsibility for my actions. If there is indeed
a deity and I am judged when I die, let him strike me down to Hell if that be
the consequence for being true to myself and not feigning belief where it is
not. I cannot force myself to believe in a deity.
  • Glen  - Sparky
I am not sure what your fisrt sentence was in reference too. But i'd like to
state clearly to you that your very existance should be enough evidence for you
to know God is. But something has taken you and told you that you know more
than even He and this is why you cannot see the evidence before your eyes.
Sparky, have you ever killed anyone? likely answer is no. So i'd follow up with
why? The answer I'd prefer is because it's wrong. Then I'd say who told you
that? THe other esponse is I don't want to go to jail. Which I'd respond the
consequence is too great for you. Sparky Jail is nothing compared to eternal
life without God. It is called hell and comes with some nasty punishments. I
can tesify that I would not want even my worst enemy to enure this wrath. I
would suggest intesad of trying to find Him in mans books go directly to Him. If
you truely searce He will make himself known. But you must take the next step
  • Charles Stephens  - HA!
Hell, that is the most amusing topic out there, and I would like you to stop
fearmongering it around. It doesn't take a very imaginitive mind to have the
Idea of hell. Infact it is a very low form of thought.

Glen I will be a little mean right now and call you a Greety, Egotistical, and
Self righteous person. Why? Simple, you do good because if you don't, you will
get punished. This is a very simple method of thought, and many people use it
on children. It is the exact same way with, in a siplified version of you post:
"If you do not belive in god, you will go to hell" It is playing on
others Selfishness. Why, I ask, does god put this into effect, he should not
send to hell the people who don't belive in him, (I.E: everyone who is not
Christian, or everyone who does not belive in god) But instead, send to hell
those that do bad. If he ist truely all powerful, than he can do that. If not,
    well... y...
  • Glen  - no it is not.
Sadly you don't think Jail is a humorous topic yet men still go there. And to
pull a chalie it is a very controliing thing for our governing bodies to do.
Grow up fella. The fact that you must resort to name cilling is telling. now.
let us try to be intelligent. I do not do good because I will go to hell if I
don't. This is not what Christianity is about. Nor am I self righteous. The
carrier of the message is not the message nor is he responsible for it.

greety, Hmmm yeah I suppose so due to the factthat I love to meet new people. I
even stick out my hand first in nearly all of my novel encounters. Greet-y get
    it. Greet-y? heh?

    g

Hell will not be funny to those that choose to go there.
  • Glen  - Egotism
"Hell, that is the most amusing topic out there, and I would like you to
    stop

fearmongering it around. It doesn't take a very imaginitive mind to have the

Idea of hell. Infact it is a very low form of thought. "It is interesting
that an egotists will belittle another so that his arguments appear to be
superior ones. Now this is simple thought. The cheapest game in the books.
"Why? Simple, you do good because if you don't, you will get punished."
I could not resists using this one again. To drive home the thought. Many
people do what the law defines as good so they will not go to Jail; ie. be
punished. If this is tuely simple thought then many are guilty of it just
trying to stay out of man's jail system. So why then does our government jail
people who don't believe in their system? I just morphed your statement.

  • Glen  - Hell
One more thing...Hell used to control. Man you are a bit inside out on that
one. The use of Hell as punishment is so powerful there are more people like
you that dicard it with contempt than there are like me that guard against it. I
expect control to do a better job than that!

    g

but you do give away your vulnerabilities.
  • Nick Dockett  - The Bible is not verifiable or trustworthy?
Do you realize that over 500 Bible prophecies have been fulfilled, backed up by
archeological digs in the lands that make up ancient Bible times has revealed
that this stuff actually did take place (also consider extra-biblical writings
that support the "stories" in the Bible.)

Sir, the old testament (which has not changed since it was written down)
prophesies Jesus Christ's coming, his birth place, when he would be born, why he
was born, the fulfillment as the messiah, his works AND his death. Now you
could say "well maybe somebody told Jesus what these prophesies were so
that's why he fulfilled them. I would say that's partly true. Jesus choose to
ride in to Jerusalem on a donkey as prophesied that he would. He KNEW he was
the messiah, and only the messiah would ride into Jerusalem on a donkey!
However, he very well couldn't choose where and when he was born (if he wasn't
fully man, and fully God.) ...

    Greetings:

Is there any way other than the net I can order books? Phone? Address? Would
like to order a case of books to hand out, also other books.

    Please reply,

    Happy Sabbath!

1893 the last four digits in Living Waters phone number also is the year that

This factoid was taught to me by, of course Living Waters.

I was delighted to see the salutation, "Happy Sabbath"!! Always a
blessing when another Christian honors the truth of the 4th commandment... :)
